This information has been gathered to ensure your awareness of the potential hazards on tour during your visit with the Central Kalimantan Guide.
It is important to ensure you are always dressed accordingly for the field and with all necessary equipment when entering the forest as recommended by the Central Borneo Guide.
Physical Risks
• Tripping - from roots and bumps.
• Slipping - damp and mossy logs or boards, loose bark, etc.
Man-Made Risks
• The machete (golok) must not be used by anyone other than trained field staff.
• Be alert at any time of fire hazard (cigarette / mosquito coils / candles, etc.).
Biological Risk
• Whiplash - from branches / vegetation / palms, including thorns.
• Thorns - such as rattan, Pandanus spp.
• Fibrous hair (Irritan) - caterpillar and ant meranti bark.
• Bites (poisonous / irritant) - from ants, spiders, snakes, centipedes.
• Stings (Irritant / poisonous) - from bees, ants, bees, scorpions.
• Sap (Irritan) - a disturbing sap from species such as ramin, ehang fruit (tree eating), etc.
• Threatening behavior from wild animals that can cause injury or even death if the correct actions, as instructed, are not taken (from sun bears, orangutans, wild boar).
• Dead trees and fallen rips.
• Ingest fruits or seeds found in the forest because of their potential for poisoning.
Personal Security Risk
• Make sure you have your own travel insurance when visiting Indonesia
• Do not go to the forest feeling sick or physically tired. The guide reserves the right to ask you to stay at the camp and rest if they deem it necessary for your own good, for the good of the team and to minimize the risk to the animals in the forest.
• Dehydration and low energy levels from drinking insufficient amounts of water and eating insufficient food. This is the most common hazard in the forest.
• Infection from cuts and bites (often minor), etc. Wash and treat immediately and repeatedly with disinfectants.
• Getting lost in the forest can be very serious, especially when combined with the effects of dehydration / low energy levels or other listed hazards.
• Always dress appropriately: trousers, long-sleeved shirt and appropriate footwear.
Meet Primates and other Wild Animals
These instructions ensure the safety of humans and animals. These instructions must be followed at all times.
• Never step in front of the lead guide; follow in one file.
• You must be at least 10m from orangutans or other primates.
• Avoid eye contact as this can be seen as a challenge.
• Do not surround animals and never get between mother and baby / child.
• No sudden or fast movements; whisper while talking.
• Never stand directly under a tree where animals are located; Branches may fall off and fruit eaten can contain irritants.
• If the animal drops below 10m off the ground, crouch down, stay still and look away until they start walking again.
• No flash photography.

I realize that during my tours, which are coordinated by the Central Borneo Guide (CBG) and / or during travel or other functions arranged for me, either inside or outside my home country, by or on behalf of any CBG member, there is a risk and certain hazards that may occur, and which are beyond the control of the guides. I have been informed and understand the risks stated in the Hazard Awareness Information Terms and Conditions.
In consideration of the right to visit the Project, I hereby assume all the risks mentioned above, and will hold CBG impeccable guidance for any and all responsibilities, actions, causes of action, debts, claims and demands of any kind and nature whatsoever. may arise in connection with any travel or activity arranged for me by CBG. The terms here will also serve as exemptions and risk assumptions for my heirs, administrators and administrators and for all members of my family.
When going to the field I will always wear the recommended field attire and carry the prescribed equipment, including personal medical equipment, necessary for walking safely in the forest.
I have been informed by CBG of the hazards I may encounter while on tour, as detailed in the Hazard Awareness Information sheet, and the safety precautions I must take to minimize these risks.
